Upcycled Vintage Suitcase Into Side Table

Once upon a time I lived in California. While living there, I made a suitcase table. Not only did I love it but I often received compliments on it from friends. When I relocated to the Texas, I only took with me what would fit into my vehicle, so my beloved table was sold on craigslist.

Fast forward to last week, when I laid eyes on this baby at an antique store. Of course, I knew exactly what I wanted to make one. I love pieces with history, but I also like pieces with unknown history. I mean who was Mr. Henry Szatko? I wonder what he would say if he walked in and saw his old suitcase there as a table. Was he an aspiring rock star and he traveled the world hoping to make it big? Was he a traveling shoe salesman? I guess I’ll never know, in the meantime I’ll daydream.

What a great find! I love shopping thrift stores to repurpose items. I can find all kinds of fabric to remake clothing for kids and grandkids.

This is beautiful and I do believe it could have been my grandfathers. My mother says it looks slightly familiar.

I have one of my grandmother’s old suitcases I’ve been dying to use for SOMETHING. This is just the thing! Thanks!
