Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show

Since the first Earth Day in 1970, I’ve been encouraging people, especially kids, to reuse and recycle materials to create art and crafts. Seven years ago, our county’s recycling educator challenged me to organize a professional art show that would feature artists who reuse and recycle solid waste to create their work. I accepted his challenge, and the first show was very successful.

On November 17th, we’ll present our eighth Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show at The Commons in Columbus, Indiana. Sponsored by the Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District, the show is gaining a reputation as the best of its type in the region. The event promotes recycling, and it provides a professional show setting and market for those who repurpose materials to make their art and fine crafts.

I encourage others around the world to organize and host an event similar to Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show. Doing so will make others aware of the solid waste problem, and encouraging people to reuse and recycle materials to create art and crafts saves energy, natural resources, and precious landfill space.
