The Yanque Company is selling durable and versatile sandals made from reused (up-cycled) tyres. But these sandals are much more than just excellent footwear. By sharing the Yanque sandals with the rest of the world, the company hopes to benefit the Peruvian artisans by opening up a new marketplace. The idea is to make the Yanque sandals (which are used majorly by the indigenous people in the Peruvian Andes) popular far and wide, as a product and as a concept. The hope is that these sandals will inspire people to get creative about re-using materials, extending their life-cycle and at the same time contribute to waste reduction.
