Dresser Drawer Upcycled into Lampstand With Storage

The lamp needed to be elevated unless I wanted to only put makeup on my chin, and so it had been sitting on two cardboard boxes. Not chic!

I decided to use an old dresser drawer instead, replacing the front panel with a swinging door so that I could store things inside. I knocked out the front panel of the drawer with a hammer, turned it upside down, add the door, and decorated it, all with salvaged materials. It was a lot of fun and the result is much more classy.

The drawer was from a discarded dresser, the hinge and screws were from my husband’s “bits and pieces” box, the door panel was scrap wood from my father’s wood shop, and the paint and primer were both left over from other projects. Total cost: zero.
