Painted Vinyl Record Bowl

I made this by painting with acrylic paints on an old vinyl record and then melting the record into a record bowl. My bowls are finished with a shiny enamel that brings out the vibrant colors. The bowls look beautiful on tables and are amazing as wall hangings! It’s hard to believe they were once spinning tunes on a record player. P.S. Not to worry the vinyls I use are no longer loved by anyone! I give them a new purpose so they don’t end up in the trash!

How do you get the form so consistantly even…do you have a mold?

Looks like a taco salad shell pan as used.

Put it in the oven over a bowl and watch it closely. When it is in the shape you want, take it out of the oven.

Can I ask if you painted before melting? I wasn’t sure if you could put acrylic paint in an oven. Also, what mold did you use? Thanks!
