Woven Belt Chair

Following my first successful project using old belts (an ottoman featured on Recyclart Feb. 21, 2015) I decided to make a not-quite-matching chair.

I found the chair frame in the alley near my apartment, with a plywood seat covered in green vinyl. After removing the old seat, I stretched and wove a new seat using vintage leather belts from various thrift stores.

On the underside, I attached the belts with screws and washers. I used epoxy to glue the loose belt flaps to the frame.

Weaving belts is an old DIY tradition that anyone can tackle. Let me know what you think of my first belt chair!
