Pavilion Constructed out of Broken Umbrellas and Bicycle Wheels

This architectural canopy is built out of recycled materials by Architects Izaskun Chinchilla as part of the Figment NYC outdoor festival. Named “Organic Growth“, this pavilion is a large structure constructed from discarded materials such as broken umbrellas, tripods and bicycle wheels assembled together to create a series of plant-like canopy.

Speaking about the project the designers said, “We have carefully studied natural structures that can grow up and down to adapt context and time circumstances. The plant grows keeping a good balance with the environment. Shouldn’t our project do the same?”

It reminds me some other large installation from repurposed umbrellas such as the Penumbrella (another kind of canopy), this street covered with umbrellas and this happy bloom tree! :)
