Diy: Garden Lounge Chair (Video + Tutorial)

This nice tutorial by “Esprit Cabane” will show you how to build yourself a nice lounge chair from repurposed wooden pallets. Perfect for furnishing a balcony, a terrace, or in your garden. Ultra-comfortable, these lounge chairs have an adjustable backrest, are robust, and also very design.

For one lounge chair, you will need:

  • 3 pallets (size: 60 x 80 cm),
  • 4 brackets (size: 15 mm x 2.5 cm x 2 m),
  • 2 stainless steel hinges for cabinet door,
  • 2 form boards (size: 27 mm x 25 cm x 3 m (sometimes sell 4 m)),
  • 4 chair triangle.

Here is the plan for this lounge chair:

Cut the three pallets as shown on the plan. Tip: check the size of the pallets to ensure a good connection. With the brackets, fill “empty” on the seat (this combines the two paddles) and on the record. Connect the back and seat with two hinges. Allow 2 wedges for the folder to get up correctly. Cut the frame in the form boards (with rounding), assemble them with the brackets.

Tip: place the brackets low enough, so they do not interfere with the seat. Insert the seat into the frame and secure it with long wood screws (about 80 mm).

Make holes with a hole saw to move the handle tools; it will be used to lock the chair’s back.

Tip: make 2-3 backrest positions. Do tests & love what you just made :)
