Repair Kid is the project of Cis Deyl. She visits festivals, markets and schools with her (outstanding and cheerful looking, very old camper named ‘Tante’ – that’s Dutch for ‘Aunty’) to give children (age 6 to 13 years old) the opportunity and space to demolish and take apart old of broken devices and machines, using tools. This way the children learn how to use tools in a save but stimulating environment and by exploring, they can learn what machines are made of. After taking the machines apart the children are encouraged to make art and invent new things with the left-over-materials. That way they also learn that recycling is more than just finding another use for an empty tin.
You can make art out of everything, nothing needs to be thrown away, celebrate creativity and give each other space to dream and invent.
