I was born and raised in South Korea. I received my BFA at the University of Texas in El Paso and my MFA in Painting at the University of Notre Dame. I taught at the University of Maryland in College Park and in the Chicago Public Schools, and operate mngallery+studio. Now I focus on my studio work and the gallery. My current art practice is based on Recycled, Reused, Recreated, Reclaimed materials not only to preserve our everyday common goods but also to understand the concept of continuum in our lives. To practice recognizing and recovering individual dynamics, I use our various mundane street-found and second-hand objects for my art materials. I reconstruct, and paint on, used wearables such as jackets, coats, shoes, neckties and bags; I make prints from found common objects on the streets; and photograph discarded PPE on the ground.
