« No Gods, no masters » is an anarchist slogan derived from « Ni Dieu, ni maître ». The french translation of master “maître” is the homonym of meter “mètre”. Where from this composition stemming from an old metallic meter. It’s a pun between master/meter and God represented by the cross.
