I made this slate cheeseboard from a reclaimed roofing slate using a diamond blade on my Craftsman bandsaw. I selected the slate from a local roofer’s surplus inventory, and I picked this one because I loved the color variations in the grey slate. It took almost 2 and a half hours to complete. Once I finished cutting, I coated the slate in a permanent food safe finish and added the plastic bumpers on the bottom. I use it as a multipurpose cutting/ serving/ cheese board and display it on our counter with a photo stand when it’s not in use. The best part is that it is machine washable because I used the permanent coating and all waterproof materials.
