Those look cool, but I have opened many a radio and found melted batteries and plastic inside.

How do you avoid that when you make these?

Use only the one you didn’t melted and keep it in dry condition it wont melted
utilisé seulement les batteries qui non pas coulé et gardé le tout dans un endroit sec ils ne devraient pas couler
I have them for 6 months an nothing is change
elle sont terminer epuis 6 mois et rien n’a changé

If you take clean one and it’s stay in a dry place it won’t melted. si tu prend celles qui sont en bonne état et que tu les lassent dans un endroit sec pas de problème.
