FunTasTickz Trash Artz…”The Art Of Recycling”

FunTasTickz Trash Artz was developed by environmental artist Dennis N. Easter to help him navigate the plastics and metal bottle caps, popsicle sticks, plastic bottles tin cans, wooden coffee stirrers, toothpicks, wood skewers, incense sticks, umbrella parts, paper, reflective plastics, glass, jumbo craft sticks, compact discs, metal clothes hangers and paint in order to prevent the resources from ending up in a landfill where it can affect Climate Change. As an artist, I want to have fun reducing the size of my carbon footprint.

While working for Administration Services, I had the privilege of working with hundreds of foster children in four boroughs, for three years, teaching them “The Art of Recycling. The children loved the project.

In addition, I have a project where I transform my old clothing into warm and colorful blankets called: From Rags To Blankets. To date, I have created eight blankets.

The name FunTasTickz is a combination of 3 different words: Fun ,Task, and sticks.

Bottle Cap Sculpturez: Vehicle type sculpture

This project started after I had collected popsicle sticks from my ice cream bars, bottle caps from the sodas that I drank. I first use the resources I had saved to entertain my daughter, her nieces, and her nephew. The children were bored. So I decided to make something from the materials I had saved. We made the sculpture using, 5 bottle caps, 1 plastic bottle, popsicle sticks, and a plastic bottle.

The sculpture resembles cars and trucks. The bottle caps represent the wheels. A sculpture can take up to a month to create. The color of the bottle caps determines what colors would be used on the project. The hardest part, at first, was deciding how to use each reclaimed item, choosing the colored bottle caps, and the eventual design of the sculpture which required brainstorming.
