How To Make An Upcycled French Farmhouse Rooster

Recently I created a cute farmhouse rooster by reusing ordinary items around the home such as an old cardboard box, used popsicle sticks, used notebook paper, newspaper, and CelluClay which is made from recycled materials. I searched the online archives of a French library and found a neat scan of Le Précurseur from 1827 and made copies. I cut that into strips as well and decoupaged it all over the top of the body. I then added a little acrylic paint, and he was all done.

He took some time to complete but was super easy. The most difficult part was making sure he stayed balanced on his feet, but even that ended up being pretty easy to do. He was well worth the effort and only requires basic paper mache skills.

See my full tutorial to see the entire process and get the link to the free newspaper printable.

I hope you enjoy him as much as I have and happy upcycling!
