Peixe boi – Recycled Cardboard Sculpture

In 1560 Jesuit priest José de Anchieta first saw a manatee, known in Brazil as ”peixe boi”. Surprised, he compared it to an elephant, today science knows they share the same ancestors. The peixe boi is a high risk endangered species, they are gentle, calm, and graze like cattle.

This sculpture measuring 53cm in length is made from recycled cardboard boxes, paper mache technique.
