Ripping Landscapes – Collage and Climbing

I am an artist and a climber. I combine the two by making collages of our gorgeous North Kent Marshes from climbing magazines. Enjoy!

As an artist, I started 20 years ago with writing poetry about the marsh. More recently I moved into experimenting through paint, mixed media, collage and photography, trying to capture the immense but subtle power of this space.

I’ve always loved the water and have canoed on the Medway and Thames for years. I am also an avid climber and have brought everything together by using torn-up pages of climbing and bird magazines to make my collages. Look carefully and you might find a hand, a foot, a rope, a wing…
