Isaac Salazar makes this crazy pieces of “Book Origami”. “I see my work as a way to display a meaningful piece of art onto a book that would otherwise sit on a shelf and collect dust; it’s also my way of recycling a book that might otherwise end up in a landfill. The words or symbols I use are drawn from anything that invokes inspiration or encouragement, such as “Read”, “Dream” and the Recycle symbol. If my work also makes people look at a book and even art in a new light then the piece has done its job“

[...] It would appear that Isaac Salazar's remarkable "origami" book sculptures are made simply by folding each page to the right dimensions. Dog-ears of various sizes will achieve the outer profile of the shape, but I assume internal details require that the pages be cut. See more in Veronica Salazar's Flickr stream. [via Recyclart] [...]

[...] Book Origami | Recyclart. RJ Thompson RJ is a graphic design educator, entrepreneur, and student currently working for La Roche College as a Visiting Professor of Graphic Design. He teaches classes in web design, creative development/design methodology, design principles, and various software programs. As an educator, RJ is able to combine his hobby with his job to present design in a fun and easy to understand way, not only to students, but clients as well.RJ's entrepreneurial spirit and initiative drive him to do work that positively impacts the community. Volunteering with the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and The Kullu Valley Bike Project, among others, has not only solidified his personal interest in community engagement but has instilled the need to include local service with the Zola mission. He has taken his desire for social entrepreneurship into the realm of design to establish a start-up that motivates positivity for clients and community alike. RJ served on the Board of Directors for AIGA, the professional association of design, from 2007-2010. With AIGA's mission “to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force,” RJ certainly understands the thousands of professional colleagues who subscribe to this association's ideals. Ever the student, RJ seeks to learn as much he can in order to bring that knowledge to the table whether it be surrounded by students or shared with clients.
