Upcycled Barstool

This stool has been around our house for decades. I wanted to use it for a plant stand or a small display table. Prior to working on this project, I had collected salvaged bicycle chains, pieces of scrap metal, and used bike components.

I broke up the bike chain links and cleaned all of the pieces. This process took the most time. I then started on the stool. I cleaned it and removed the existing rust.

Once it was dry, the wooden top was sanded and sealed. I used rust-proof spray paint to prime and paint the entire metal stool. Finally, I glued salvaged bike chain link pieces, scrap metal, and gears to the wooden top.

Now it’s brand new again!
