LEADING UK mosaic artist Ed Chapman has created a unique Jimi Hendrix mosaic out of 5000 guitar plectrums. It was auctioned last month at Cancer Research UK’s Sound & Vision event at the iconic Abbey Road Studios.
Ed Chapman said: “I’m delighted to be supporting Cancer Research UK at this year’s Sound & Vision event. The John Lennon piece I created for 2009’s event raised £6,000 for the charity, and I hope the Jimi mosaic can do the same this year.”
He was right because it was finally sold for £23,000 !

Years ago (20+ now) I knew a guy that did a portrait of Arlo Guthrie using just pencil dots. Up close, it looked like just what it was, but from 10 feet away, it looked like a B/W photo. There are some wonderfully talented people out there.
This is fantastic. I saw one done with a cassette tape that was pretty good as well.

I love this! I was in NY a few weeks ago, and decided to do a trip cross country to see art. I thoroughly enjoy seeing people make art and beauty out of these kinds of objects.

I never understood how people can create something lie this. Not only it had to take ages to finish but the detail and colouring is breathtaking. I like Jim Hendrix very much and this is a tribute no guitar player would mind to get.

Works of art that are created for a good cause is definitely admirable. There are certain wonderful things that can be seen here like Jimi Hendrix as the inspiration, guitar picks as the medium and of course, the cancer research organization that benefited from this masterpiece.
