I am an avid recycler as well as a lover of coffee. I love my Nespresso machine, but I felt guilty because of the waste it produced. Nespresso chose to use aluminum as it is the best material to preserve the delicate aromas and flavors of the Nespresso Grand Cru against oxygen, light and moisture. In this way, the coffee remains fresh preserving its distinctive flavor. Moreover, aluminum is an extremely valuable raw material, as it can be recycled and reused many times. After looking in the web for some tips how to upcycle Nespresso capsules, it came to my mind that they are great as embellishment because of their bright and vivid colours. Some months ago I bought a lot of eco leather in the Cuneo market so I used it for an iPad cover.
Cut two pieces of leather, apply zipper and stitch it first to the one piece, then to the other. Put the clutch pieces face to face and stitch the remaining part, don’t forget to leave the zipper open. Turn it to the right side. Ready. Now prepare Nespresso capsules: once the capsules were empty of coffee granules, clean and dry, I flattened them with a hammer and made 4 holes. After having selected them by colours and decided on the order, I started sticking them with a hot glue gun. For the best result, I sew the capsules to the clutch using the holes I made earlier.
