We’re seeing recycled rubber tires used for many things these days: shoe soles, playground mulch, even posh bags and water filters. Now Minarc, a California-based design firm, has found a way to use the resource for an interior purpose: bathroom sinks. The sinks use melted down old tires (which are cleaned prior to processing) which are formed into a slim sheet. The rubber sheet can then be stretched over a wood or metal frame and anchored down, to create a textural basin for a sink.
