This Lidan-inspired basket was crocheted entirely from plastic bags. The continuous strand was created using the technique shown here.

No English version per se, but here are some helpful links:
Making plarn: basic chain method A or the zigzag method or the grass skirt spiral method.
Basic crochet instructions: take the idea from these instructions, and adapt your size as you wish.
